To enhance safety and mobility options in the area, the City of Tallahassee began construction of sidewalk improvements along West Sixth Avenue from Old Bainbridge Road to Duval Street. The project aims to construct approximately 3,500 linear feet of new sidewalk along West Sixth Avenue. In addition to the sidewalk construction, there will be sewer, water, and crosswalk improvements.

The City hosted in-person community meetings on August 4, 2022, and February 1, 2023, to share design options and project details. Staff from the City’s Underground Utilities & Public Infrastructure were present to discuss the project and answer questions.

Project construction began June 9, 2025 and is expected to be completed Spring 2026, barring any unanticipated delays.
